Humanity...humans...it is as if America doesn't want to see eachother as humans. We see people as jobs, cars, houses, clothes worn, ugly, beautiful, fat, skinny, black, white, as what is possessed, instead of humans. It is so true catastrophy is the greatest mirror. With Katrina, we were all forced to see the HUMANITY... the HUMANS of Katrina. Which, in turn, allowed me to see myself, I felt so many things: guilt, shock, shame, anger, horror, and yes, numbness. I even felt some guilt watching BHTM in Naperville a week after the hurricane. As I watched you sing I imagined you all felt the same. Something horrible had happenend, people were homeless, but the show must go on..,life goes on. Amazing isn't it...life goes on. As Americans, we think 'nothing will happen to us'...to our cars, our homes, our jobs...but we are either so lazy, or so niave, we believe the "government" or "america" will "take care of us"..an illusion of safety. We are America. We are the government. We have allowed illusions to become our culture. We feel self sufficient, yet are completely dependant grocery stores, telephones, gas stations, clothing stores, hormoned raged cattle, the government. For example:I went to a Mennonite village today in Kalona, Ia. In their store they had huge bags of made-from-scratch blue berry muffin mix...I was going to buy one, but saw there was no recipe on how to cook them. My point is..we even depend on instructions to cook our food. If we could see eachother as humans, the good and the bad, if we could start quesitioning the way America is, instead of living on illusions, maybe we wouldn't be so defeated by water...by a cloud..

Sorry for rambling.

P.S. I DEFINATELY enjoyed the show, Todd!!!

Excellent. There is no security, and if we stopped putting so much money and resources and time funding our rediculous projects for security, and put that energy into living loveingly and creatively, we will really have made something of ourselves as a species.
